Happy New Year to all of our Money Smart Athlete Blog readers. We will begin 2023 with an inspirational theme. When it comes to defining what it means for a person to be inspiring to you, there is no clear-cut answer. In the context of athletes, one can be considered inspirational due to their performance and athletic accomplishments; being able to set an athletic goal and do everything in their power to achieve it. Achieving their goals through hard work, perseverance, self-discipline and dedication, can truly empower those who follow and admire athletes.
However, for others, an inspirational athlete may be someone who motivates them beyond the field of sports. It could be that they have an inspiring personality because of their ethos, authentic character, personal values or even their life story. It could be an athlete people can relate to and see themselves in.
There is no doubt that what each one of us finds inspirational and looks up to may differ, since we all value different things in life. This month at the Money Smart Athlete Blog we will explore what it is that makes different athletes inspirational to different people, focusing on real-life examples. We will look into the case of Giannis Antetokounmpo and his journey to success, Simone Biles and what she stands for, Kylian Mbappé and his phenomenal performance and lastly, the soccer legend Lionel Messi and his inspirational achievements.
